Complete Box Office Report Of Bollywood For March
After super success of “Agneepath” in January and double success of “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” and “Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya” in February, March started with little hope. But it turned out to be full of surprises, film which was expected to do well failed to make moolah at box office but on contrary small films with big hearts made it big at box office.
Month started with the release of “London Paris New York” starring Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao and hit music but film failed to make it beyond multiplexes and in the end film failed to recover its cost despite appreciation among urban section of audience. But other release of the week “Paan Singh Tomar” threw a pleasant surprise with unprecedented appreciation from critics and audience. Film started slowly but despite almost zilch publicity film made it big at box office riding on huge word of mouth. Even producers of the film were not keen on releasing the film and that is why film was waiting for release for last 2 years but its success again proved that content is the ultimate king. Irrfan Khan has again established himself as actor par excellence and it has brought back Tigmanshu Dhulia back in business.
Next week saw two releases “Chaar Din Ki Chandni” and “Kahaani” out of which CDKC sank without trace as expected and “Kahaani” again proved to be a surprise success from Vidya Balan. Film did huge business at box office and last week it crossed 100 cr gross collections against the budget of meager 8 cr. Film made almost 800% profit and again amazing appreciation from critics and audience alike.
Month ended with the release of much awaited “Agent Vinod” hitting the cinemas which was postponed earlier twice last year. This Saif Ali Khan’s home production failed miserably at box office and failed to even recover its cost. This was a huge setback for Saif who invested his 2 years in it and one more flop for real life couple Saif and Kareena. Film was hit by poor script and bad writing.
