“GANGS OF WASSEYPUR 2” Surprises With Its Entertainment Quotient
Nawazuddin is awesome and Huma scorches the screen, Tigmanshu is good and so is Piyush Mishra, Songs enhance the proceedings
2nd half an hour too slow, self indulgence of director is visible in few parts,
actors like Rajkumar Yadav and Yashpal Sharma wasted
Watch it for fitting cinematic climax to intriguing crime saga
Film starts where you left it last time around in prequel that is why it is not bad idea to watch both the parts back to back. New introduction of characters like Tangent, Perpendicular and Definite make the proceedings more interesting. This time around too film takes time to settle down with new set of characters but once that happens, director takes you for one hell of a ride.
If you remember, I didn't like the first installment that much but to be honest this time around Anurag nails it like anything. Though music in 2nd installment is not as catchy as in 1st part, but the way Anurag has used it in background of violence shots needs special mention.
The Film belongs to director Anurag and lead man Nawazuddin who is simply outstanding. He infuses life in every shot and frame he is in. Anurag should be applauded for giving such a platform to an exceptional talent. Huma is top notch as this time she gets ample time to steal the show. Richha Chaddha is average and tries her best to enact an elderly character. Same can be said for music director Sneha who this time around kills it with "Chich Leather" and "Aaabroo". Music really leaves smile on your face.
Cinematography is top notch but editing again lets the film down at various junctures and that might be due to over indulgence of director. Dialogues are crisp and Piyush Mishra's voice over keeps you hooked.
Climax is so impactful that you bound to take characters and final moments with you after you leave theater. But real winner is script which has natural flow and director Anurag Kashyap gives it right direction with his signature style. Though one feel underwhelmed when you can't see actors like Yashpal and Rajkumar in rather smaller roles but that is bound to happen in such a multi starrer.
Overall film is a winner and will garner more positive responses that the first installment but for me the sheer entertainment value with supreme technical and cinematic experience work big time.
Go for this one and you might end up watching first one again!
