In 2015, most of the films received critical acclaim as wellas raked in the moolah at the box-office. But, there were a very fewout-of-the-box movies which won the hearts of critics across all platforms andthe reviewers were falling short of words to praise the film.
It is a known fact that critics are very difficult toimpress, and in 2015, many films got thumbs up from them. So here’s ourlist of top five critically acclaimed films of 2015.
Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Masaan’ won applause atCannes and then released in India, making all critics go gaga over it. Themovie received an overwhelming response from critics as it showcased the starkreality of India. Neeraj’s direction, the storyline, and Richa Chadha andVicky Kaushal’s performance were praised a lot.
4) ‘Margarita With A Straw’:
Not many filmmakers have guts to make a film onhomosexuality or bisexuality, but Shonali Bose made a film on the subject thatrevolved around a girl suffering from cerebral palsy. The movie is about agirl, how she discovers her sexuality and her journey towards loving herself.Kalki Koechlin’s performance in the film was immensely praised and fewalso said that she deserves a National Award for it.
After ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, YRF once again cameup with a small film titled ‘Titli’. The movie had already madeheadlines thanks to its screening in Cannes. The film released in India withnearly no promotions. But, the simple story-telling style of Kanu Behl,performances of Shivani Raghuvanshi and Ranvir Shorey, and a never-seen-beforegritty family film impressed critics a lot.
After ‘Rahasya’, one more flick titled‘Talvar’ was made on Aarushi murder case. ‘Talvar’ wasdirected by Meghna Gulzar and had more saleable actors like Irrfan Khan andKonkona Sen Sharma. The film upon its release got positive reviews from thecritics. It also got the audiences to the theatres and managed a handsomelifetime collection of Rs. 30 cr. Irrfan Khan’s performance was thehighlight of the film.
