Recently, Box Office Capsule got an opportunity to interview an acclaimed designer and animator Shilpa Ranade for her movie Goopi Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiya which is an award-winning animation movie. Read on to know all the deets of the interview! 1. What made you choose this story? I’m an illustrator. I was doing a book which I got scholastic and that book was written by Gulzar. I thought it would be a lovely film for the children and the audience. 2. Animated movies are still not discovered in the genre of Bollywood, so do you think GGBB will make the change in the Hindi animated movies? There is so much potential for great storytelling in animation. I'm hoping it will figure a love for animation. 3. How difficult was it to direct an animated movie? Well. an animation is a tough genre. It takes a lot of time, a lot of resources. So, to direct something for a long time and to maintain the image of the direction for a long time is certainly very tough but I completely love what I do, so it didn’t seem so hard. 4. What is your take on the box office? How much does box office numbers matter to you? I’m an animator so I know nothing about box office collections and the whole climate of the film and the marketing consumption. I just hope people go and enjoy the film. 5. When will we see you direct a Bollywood movie? Laughs* Never never. I might make another animated movie instead.
