Monday, 28th July 2014, 05:20 PM IST Bollywood’s King of hearts Shahrukh Khan has long been pursued to topline the cast of a biopic on hockey legend Dhyan Chand, especially after his role of a coach for the national women’s hockey team in ‘Chak De! India’. However, the superstar never spoke of it publicly.
A few years ago, when the film was announced, its writer Ila Bedi Dutta had said, “I recently met Shahrukh to discuss the project. To us, he is the perfect choice for Dhyan Chand. Though we haven't heard from him yet, we expect him to sign the dotted line.”
More recently, Abhishek Bachchan stated at the Pro-Kabaddi League, “A sportsman whose life will be fantastic on screen is Major Dhyan Chand. It will be an unbelievable story. These are the stories that need to be told. I told Shahrukh Khan during the shoot of ‘Happy New Year’ to make a film on it and play the protagonist, because he looks a lot like him. If you see his photo, you just need to change Shahrukh's hair a bit. Shahrukh was a hockey player. I think he will be fantastic.” However, SRK never spoke about it in these years. And now we hear that the writer of the film is in talks with Ranbir Kapoor for the lead role. Pooja Shetty is said to be producing the film. So who will it be? Shahrukh or Ranbir? We’ll have to wait and watch. |
