2014 was a great year for Bollywood. Many Bollywood films successfully reached the niche 100cr and 200cr club. While female actors ruled the year with their great performances, there were male actors who also managed to grab our attention with their acts.

Here’s the list of best male performances in 2014 according to us:

1) Shahid Kapoor (‘Haider’):

Shahid Kapoor had proved his mettle in acting with Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’. And the actor once again teamed up with the maverick director for ‘Haider’ in 2014. Shahid’s performance in the film is said to be one of the best performances of the actor till date. Shahid as the desi version of ‘Hamlet’ was just remarkable.

2) Rajkummar Rao(‘Citylights’):

Rajkummar Rao received National Award for his performance in ‘Shahid’ which was directed by Hansal Mehta. And in 2014, the director and the actor once again came together with the film ‘Citylights’. And once again Rajkummar gave an award-winning performance in the film.

3) Ronit Roy(‘Ugly’/’2 States’):

Ronit Roy was seen in two films in 2014 - ‘2 States’ and ‘Ugly’. The actor had a supporting role in ‘2 States’, but still left a mark with his superb performance in the film. In ‘Ugly’, Ronit played one of the lead roles and his act was gripping and intriguing, to say the least. In the ensemble cast where every actor played their part well, it was Ronit who stood out and how!

4) Pankaj Kapur (‘Finding Fanny’):

Pankaj Kapur, who has forever been lauded for his exceptional acting prowess, proved that experience matters. In front of young actors like Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, it was Kapur who left a lingering impression. His act was hilarious, and the audience and critics praised his act more than anyone else in the film.

5) Sanjay Mishra (‘Aankhon Dekhi’):

Like Pankaj Kapur, even Sanjay Mishra proved that experience matters. The veteran actor very well carried the lead role in the film ‘Aankhon Dekhi’. He played the role of Bauji, a middle class man, with aplomb. We don’t think anybody else could have justified the character like he did. The performance of this talented artiste surely deserves to be in top 5.
