A controversy had sparked up due to an ad of Kalyan Jewellers which featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a princess and behind her was an animated black kid. The controversy was that the ad was racist. However, the brand has pulled off the ad.

Their official statement states, “The creative was intended to present the royalty, timeless beauty and elegance. However, if we have inadvertently hurt the sentiments of any individual or organisation, we deeply regret the same. We have started the process of withdrawing this creative from our campaign.”
