Verdict: Detailed Analysis: Shahrukh Khan films always encite extreme reactions. He is compared to his purple patch in 90's to early 2000's in terms of box office performance or his acting chops in 'Swades' or 'Chak De India'. His latest offering is more of celebration of 70's cinemas. Film transports you to the world of Raees (Shahrukh Khan) who grows up on philosophy of her mother 'Koi Dhandia Chota Nahin hota'. He becomes biggest liquor smuggler after he gets out of job from his boss (Atul Kulkarni). He with his friend (Zeeshan Quadri) builts empire and then falls in love with girl (Mahira Khan) next door. Raees gets his nemesis in cop Majumdar (Nawaazuddin) who is hell bend to bring him to justice. What happens in this journey and how Raees becomes larger than life figure forms the rest of the story. Performance wise Shahrukh delivers his career best in the role of underworld gangster. His expression at the end of 'Laila' song after action and in climax of the film worth billion dollars. Nawazuddin is outstanding with his natural act and some priceless lines. Mahira is good and Atul Kulkarni is decent. Zeeshan Quadri is impressive, Natendra Jha is good and so is Jaideep Ahlawat.
Costumes are okay and it is well shot film. Action is also pulsating. Director Rahul Dholakia has given massy entertainer with heart in right place. He managed to bring out performances but at times he fails to lift the scenes beyond average. Film released today and will rule at box office. Film will need positive word of mouth to score in long run though huge opening will ensure a good run.
