Music Review: Music Album Of KATTI BATTI Fails To Reach Our Expectations

Tuesday, 15th Sept 2015, 2:24 PM IST Music Composers: Shankar Ehsaan Loy Lyricist: Kumaar After the success of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, Kangana Ranaut will be back on big screen this Friday with Nikhil Advani’s ‘Katti Batti’. The movie also stars Imran Khan who will be seen on screen after around two years. There are a lot of expectations from the music as Kangana’s films mostly have good music; also, Nikhil’s recent release ‘Hero’ had excellent songs. The music of the film is out, so let’s see what’s there in store for us. The album starts with the track ‘Lip to Lip’. It’s an okay funky romantic number which fails to entertain us. The track lacks that X-factor which could have taken it to a better level. Nikhil D'Souza and Ritu Pathak have sung the track very well. The most disappointing element of the song is its lyrics. Thanks to it, we would like to say that it is one of the worst romantic numbers. Here are a few lines from the lyrics: ‘Kissi bina guzre na raatein, Kissi bina beete na din, Jee lunga main tere bina, Nahi jeena teri kissi ke bin…’ Gosh! Kiss desperado! What were the makers thinking while creating this number? Pathetic! Ratings: 1/5 After such a bad start we don’t really have any expectation from the other songs. But the next track ‘Sarfira’ impresses us. It’s a foot-tapping number with romantic lyrics. It can be a party’s delight. Siddharth Mahadevan, Neeti Mohan and Qaran Mehta’s vocals do wonders for the track. This one succeeds in entertaining us. Ratings: 3/5 Moving forward comes a sad romantic number titled ‘Sau Aasoon’. It’s a nice track, but fails to reach the level of the other heart-wrenching numbers which were released earlier this year. The song has sadness in it; however, it doesn’t really make us feel the pain of the characters. Shankar Mahadevan and Rasika Shekhar’s voices however take the song a notch higher. Ratings: 2.5/5 Next song in the album is ‘Jaago Mohan Pyaare’. Just skip this track or else you will start hating the famous phrase ‘Jaago Mohan Pyaare’. The track is high on energy but damn irritating. Siddharth Basrur, Digvijay Singh Pariyar, Raman Mahadevan and Rasika Shekhar have sung it pathetically, but it is not their fault, we are sure it is the music composers who told them to sung in this way. Lyrics are senseless. They tried to make this one a rock number, however can’t help but say… they have failed badly. Just one word to describe this song perfectly – Horrible! Ratings: 0/5 And finally, the last song in the album is ‘Ove Janiya’. It is the best song of the album and believe us, you finally feel that you are listening to a decent number which has good soulful music and some meaningful lyrics. This song is like a diamond in coal mine. Mohan Kannan’s voice is impressive and touches our heart. There’s also another of the track Sayani Palit and it is also amazing. Ratings: 4/5 On the whole, music album of ‘Katti Batti’ fails to reach our expectations. Ratings: 2/5 Music Review By –
