Tuesday, 5th January 12:45 PM IST 2016 has started with big chunk of films hitting silver screen in first quarter. What makes it more interesting is that there will be more than 3-4 sex comedies in first three months. 3rd installment of 'Kya Super Kool Hain Hum' will release on 22 January and 'Mastizaade' will hit screens on 29th Jan with only seven days of gap between them. 'Kya Super Kool Hain Hum 3' is Balaji film and they have sold it for 37 cr MG all India price to distributors. A.D. Films has acquired Gujarat/Saurashtra territory for whopping amount of 5.5 cr and Mumbai city is bought for 7 cr. Rajasthan is bought by Marudhar films for 2.50 cr. Film needs to cross 75-78 cr nett all India for these distributors to break even (few circuits like Saurashtra and CP might break even around 70 cr as their share in this genre is always higher). On the other hand, 'Mastizaade' is sold for 17 cr MG to Panaroma Films (Kumar Mangat) and they will need 37-38 cr nett business in order to break even. Though Panorama Film has also sold it further to sub distributors like Vijay Kher in CP and STV network in Mumbai for 8 cr. So now these sub distributors will need around 46-48 cr nett business as they had bought it for 24 cr ratio. Trade has bet big on sex comedies and their success will define how much 3rd installment of 'Masti' will receive price which is slated to release on Holi, 24th March. |
