Monday, 18th April 2016, 11:45 AM IST If you have watched the trailer of Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’, we are sure you would have marked that Kareena Kapoor Khan has been given least scope in the trailer. The actress also described her character as "short, sweet but effective.” Kareena added, "We make documentaries on substance abuse, but it took a visionary like Abhishek Chaubey to put the subject on celluloid." A source said, "She (Kareena) plays a Punjabi kudi in the film and was given hair extensions for a long choti. The material for her salwar-kurtas was purchased in Amritsar itself and she wore sweaters with buttons down the front like the ones local girls wear. Being a Punjabi herself, she took a break from her stringent diet to happily tuck in kaali dal and aloo kulcha during the shoot." Kareena will be seen as a doctor on a mission to curb drug abuse in the state, along with a cop, played by Diljit Dosanjh. It is learnt that Kareena’s character returns from London after losing a loved one to drugs. "She then sets out to help cure drug addicts and starts working in a small clinic in Amritsar. Diljit's reel life brother is one of her patients and the duo team up to fight the drug mafia," the source said.
