Naseeruddin Shah Was Offered Dumbledore Of Harry Potter Series

Tuesday, 7th June 2016, 07:30 PM IST The most beloved character of the Harry Potter series was Headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore. The character was played by Richard Harris in the first two parts of the series, ‘Philosopher's Stone’ and ‘Chamber of Secrets’. But after his death, he was replaced by Michael Gambon. At that time Naseeruddin Shah was asked to give an audition for the role, but he didn’t. In a Twitter chat, the critically acclaimed actor revealed he stood the chance to play Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. He stated, "My agent wanted me to audition for Dumbledore’s character after Richard Harris died. I was asked if I would like to audition for it. But I wouldn’t audition for it."
