Some time back, news floated about Sajid Nadiadwala gifting the title ‘Bharat’ to Salman Khan as a gift, and now an official confirmation regarding the film is out. Salman has booked his favorite, Eid 2019, for ‘Bharat’. While ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ director Ali Abbas Zafar is on board for this project as well as a director, Salman’s brother Atul Agnihotri has also turned the producer for this official adaptation of a South Korean film titled ‘An Ode To My Father’. It was Atul who saw ‘An Ode To My Father’ at the Busan International Film Festival and thought that it could make a great Bollywood film, and thus began the journey. Agnihotri was quoted, “That film is just the starting point for ours but since it was an inspiration, we wanted in all fairness to officially own it and acquired the remake rights before going ahead with ‘Bharat’. It starts in 1947 and ends in 2000 and is the journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the name of Bharat.” When asked why he is not directing the film as well, Agnihotri reveals, “I feel I contribute better as a producer. Ali is a friend, I love his work and eventually, it’s all about connecting with the source. If you speak to him, you will realize that Ali is far more passionate about the material. We will be shooting in Abu Dhabi and Spain, besides Punjab and Delhi. Prep in every department will be elaborate and is happening even as we speak. Casting will be our main agenda over the next three months and since it’s a character-driven story, we will take actors who fit the parts. It won’t be about getting names together but will be honest in its depiction.” The highest grossing film of South Korea, ‘An Ode To My Father’, was a story about a man who gets separated from his family during the Korean war and how he manages to reunite with them. It will be interesting to see how this time the story will be played around. The movie will go on the floors from April 2018 and the actress or any other lead hasn’t been revealed yet. Salman’s last release was ‘Tubelight’ and moving on, he has now diverted his attention to ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, the first look of which was revealed during Diwali. The movie, also starring Katrina Kaif, is up for Christmas release this year.
