There has been a trend running in Bollywood nowadays, it is to make a biopic on the life stories of people that should be known by the audiences for their deeds. Now, these people aren’t only in history books, but also in cinema halls. One out of many such stories is coming on board with the producer Madhu Manthena. Madhu Mantena, who recently produced Super 30, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Mrunal Thakur in the pivotal roles is all set with an interesting tale of Kota Rani. Kota Rani was born to Ramachandra, the commander-in-chief of Sukhadeva, the king of Lohara dynasty in Kashmir. Kota Rani was a great thinker and with her intellectuality, she had saved the city of Srinagar from frequent floods by getting a canal constructed. It was named after her as Kute Kol. Kota Rani was the Hindu ruler of Lohara dynasty in medieval Kashmir, ruling until 1339. Madhu Mantena will be bankrolling the film with Phantom Films & Reliance Entertainment. Madhu Mantena speaking about the film stated, "It's a matter of great surprise that as Indians we don't know enough or at all about a personality like Kota Rani. It would be no exaggeration to compare her to Cleopatra and a lot of things that we are witnessing today are directly related to the story of Kota Rani." Adding to this, the Udta Punjab producer said, "Her life was extremely dramatic and she is perhaps one of the most able woman rulers that India produced. It would be a shame not to know about her.” As of now, the director and cast for the movie are still on searching mode. |
