DANGAL Is Realistic Grounded Cinema At It's Best
Aamir Khan is superb, newcomer girls steal the show, apt direction, sharply edited, effective background score
Slow paced, predictable plot, dry content
Watch it for Aamir Khan and direction
Nitesh Tiwari has given heartfelt films in past and now he is back probably with the biggest film of his career with superstar Aamir.
Plot is based on real life story of Mahavir Phogat, the famous wrestler. Aamir Khan plays the role of the man and his famous daughters who brought gloray to country played by newcomer girls. Film moves in two directions. First, how a father realises power of her daughters and turn them into champions. Second, how his past plays role in shaping of his life.
Performance wise Aamir Khan delivers 5 stars performance. Newcomers are outstanding and steal the show. Sakshi Tanwar is good and Vivan Bhatena is average.
Story lacks pace though has heart and screenplay is predictable.
Editing is top notch and film is shot well. Costumes are tacky but background score is superb.
Director Nitseh Tiwari has given superb film but writing lacks pace and also it's too predictable as it mixes 'Chak De!India' and 'Sultan'.
Film released today and should open big. Film will need positive word of mouth to score in long run as opening is not that mammoth plus it has huge 300 cr plus expectations.
Go watch this one if you love inspiring tales!
