MAIN AUR CHARLES Fails To Entertain Despite Impressive Performances
boring sound and songs, inconsistent cinematography, below par dialogues, lackluster direction
Watch it for Randeep Hooda and Adil Hussain
Prawaal Raman made interesting films like 'Darling', Darna Manaa Hai' and 'Darna Zaroori Hai' but still he never succeeded at box office. Now he is back with crime biopic 'Main Aur Charles'.
Performance wise Randeep Hooda is simply outstanding and fits perfectly in this role. His demeanor, his walk and his persona all gel well in addition to his intense act. Watch out for court scene with Richa Chaddha, priceless! Adil Hussain is surprise package because he shines as honest cop Amod Kanth despite not so well written dialogues or role. He is equally impressive and menacing. Richa Chaddha delivers another honest act after 'Masaan'. Supporting cast consisting of Bipin Sharma, Tisca Chopra, Mandana Karimi, Alex O Neil and Dijena Dejanovic lifts the film.
Film has below par screenplay and dialogues are pathetic. Though interesting plot keeps thing lively. Film has razor sharp editing. Music is pathetic. Cinematography is inconsistent but costume and production design is perfect. Background score is irritating.
Director Prawaal Raman had great story and intriguing character in hand but he failed to execute it as he tries to treat it like Sodenberg at times and then he plays to gallery. His confused approach kills a film which could had been a wonderful successful film.
Film will release today and it will get average reviews but it will get poor opening due to lead pair and niche promo. Film will also suffer due to dull pre Diwali period. Only exceptional word of mouth and big growth on Saturday can save its skin.
Go for this one only if crime stories are your cup of tea!
