New Releases Take Poor Start, DUM LAGA KE HAISHA Might Grow Due To Great Reviews
After disastrous beginning of 2015 with flops finally Varun Dhawan starrer 'Badlapur' seems to have worked at box office. This week will see new releases 'Ab Tak Chappan 2' and 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' which are not expected to do much at box office.
'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' is a limited release in 789 screens as makers YRF are confident that film will grow with word of mouth. Film is releasing after Ayushmann Khurrana has given some big duds in ''Hawaizaada'' and ''Bewakoofiyan''. Its a now or never kind of moment for him. Film has taken a poor start with less than 10% opening but evening growth is crucial for the film and then growth has to be big. As per early trends, film should collect close to 90 lakhs nett unless there si something drastic happens in evening.
'Ab Tak Chappan 2' is sequel of moderately successful film and has no pre release buzz and will struggle everywhere except Mumbai. Film has dated cast and outdated look. Film has taken a poor start and with 5% opening, this is almost lost cause for the film on day one morning. As per early trends, film should collect close to 1 cr nett that too because of such a wide release in 1400 screens.
'Badlapur' should dominate again this weekend with 1.80 cr nett today and if all goes well, then film should touch 50 cr nett by end of its run and for that it needs to collect 8-10 cr nett in 2nd weekend. Hollywood releases might do some numbers in niche market but will not make any impact.
