Thugs Of Hindostan Stays Low At The Box Office
Set in a time when the East India Company was trying to conquer India, Thugs of Hindostan is set in Raunakpur which is still not under the British rule. English Captain Clive (Lloyd Owen) kills Raunakpur’s king Mirza (Ronit Roy) and his wife. Clive is also about to kill Mirza’s daughter Zafira (her elder version played by Fatima Sana Shaikh) but she’s rescued at the eleventh hour by Khudabaksh aka Azaad’s (Amitabh Bachchan), a rebel from Raunakpur. Eleven years later, the East India Company seeks the help of thug Firangi Mallah (Aamir Khan) to capture Azaad and his followers.
After smashing several records on the day of its release, Thugs of Hindostan has started on a downhill journey ever since the critics gave the film a thumbs down. The film, which opened with a record-breaking collection of Rs 50.75 crore, registered a remarkable fall during the weekend. It collected Rs 17.25 crore on its first Sunday, taking its four-day total to Rs 123 crore. Monday saw the tickets sales a huge slump gathering only 5.50 cr and Tuesday collection went upto 4.35 cr taking its total t0 128.85 cr.
