TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS Crosses 70 Cr Nett In Week One
Kangana Ranaut delivered hits like ''Queen'' and ''Tanu Weds Manu'' in last few years. She is now back with another potential super hit film ''Tanu Weds Manu Returns''. Film has advantage to go ''Piku'' way due to clear couple of weeks at box office and sequel edge.
Film released across 2300 plus screens and it took fairly good start at box office. Film opened to 55-60% in north and even in places like Mumbai, Gujarat and Rajasthan it was close to 40-50%. Reviews are positive and word of mouth is good. Film scored very well in central India and north though it was a bit slow in western and south India.
Film has slight competition from ''''''''Piku'''''''' otherwise it will have open run for two weeks, almost like the 1st installment of the film in 2011. Film collected very good 8.85 cr nett on day one which is fantastic. Film jumped by 50% on day two and collected huge 13.20 cr nett. Jump was across the board including in single screens which is rarity in today''''s era.
Film jumped by 25% on Sunday and collected 16.10 cr nett which is mind blowing. Film is so strong in areas like Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab and UP that it will cross some real big films of ''Khans'' there by end of the run. Film was stupendous on Monday and collected 8.90 cr nett which was similar to its Friday number with just 5% drop. Film had more admits on Monday as ticket prices are low. Film was again rock steady on Tuesday and collected 8.20 cr nett with just 10% drop followed by 7.70 cr nett on Wednesday and 7.07 cr nett on Thursday.
Film has crossed 70.02 cr nett in seven days and now film is almost certain to touch 100 cr nett lifetime by the end of 2nd week which means film will become highest grosser of the year. Even in overseas film has collected healthy figures 25 cr plus in seven days. Its success proves that there is huge demand for a massy content and family film. Super hit!
