BADLAPUR Had Very Good Weekend
After disastrous beginning of 2015 with flops ''''Tevar'''' and ''''Khamoshiyan'''', below par to average ''''Baby'''', below average ''''Dolly Ki Doli'''' and ''''Roy'''', disastrous ''''Hawaizaada'''' and flop ''''Shamitabh'''', there is big hope from new release ''''Badlapur'''' especially due to presence of Varun Dhawan.
'Badlapur' opened to low occupancies of 15% in areas like Gujarat, UP and Bihar but film is better in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Delhi with 35% occupancies. Overall opening is around 25% and 28% which is good for mid budget film.
Film should grow due to good reviews but how big is the growth will be important. Film collected 7 cr nett on opening day which was really good considering adult certificate. It is 3rd best opening day of 2015 after 'Baby' and 'Roy'. Film is also 3rd best opening for Vrun Dhawan after 'Student of The Year' and 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'.
Film grew well on Saturday and film was up especially in Mumbai, Pune, Mysore, NCR and other high end multiplexes. Film collected 8.75 cr nett on day two but then film was held back by big cricket match on Sunday. Film recovered in evening but damage was done during the day.
Film collected 8.25 cr nett on Sunday and thus taking weekend total to 24 cr nett. Monday holds the key for the film and good Monday means film will stay in cinemas for weeks to come and 50 cr nett lifetime is possible.
