WELCOME TO KARACHI Had Below Par Weekend
Bollywood films have disappointed and no film managed to cross 100 cr nett in 2015. This year films like ''Dum Laga Ke Haisha'', ''NH 10'', ''Badlapur'' and ''Piku'' had overperformed purely due to exceptional reviews and positive word of mouth. Though ''Gabbar'' and ''Baby'' did well but were short of 100 cr mark. After that 2015 saw its 1st big hit ''Tanu Weds Manu Returns''.
Last weekend small films like ''Ishqedaariyan'', ''P Se PM Tak'' and ''Welcome To Karachi released. ''P Se PM Tak'' opened to disastrous numbers and ''Ishqedaariyan'' was poor with 5% opening. ''Welcome to Karachi'' released yesterday and had paid previews in late evening. Film was good at places in Gujarat and Mumbai. But film opened to below par numbers yesterday.
''Welcome To Karachi'' collected 50 lakhs nett in paid previews on Thursday and then collected 1.45 cr nett on Friday. Film needed big jump but average review meant flat day two at box office with 1.55 cr nett number. Film added 1.75 cr nett on Sunday. Film has total of 5.25 cr nett approx in three days including paid preview. Film will struggle on weekdays and even 10 cr nett lifetime looks tough as big release will hit cinemas on next Friday.
