DUM LAGA KE HAISHA Continues To Perform On Weekdays In 2nd Week
After disastrous beginning of 2015 with flops finally Varun Dhawan starrer ''Badlapur'' seems to have worked at box office. Last week saw release of low budget non fancy film ''Dum Laga Ke Haisha'' from YRF and it seems that film has tasted some kind of success at box office as no one expected it to cross 10 cr nett after such poor opening and low buzz.
''Dum Laga Ke Haisha'' had limited release in 789 screens as makers YRF are confident that film will grow with word of mouth and that is what happened. Film released after Ayushmann Khurrana had given some big duds in ''Hawaizaada'' and ''Bewakoofiyan''. It was a now or never kind of moment for him and luckily film has worked at box office.
Film took a poor start all over due to no big promotions and no big star cast. Film got glowing reviews and word of mouth was on positive side. Film collected only 1.11 cr nett on opening day but with big jumps over weekends, film collected 6 cr nett. Film finished week one around 10.65 cr nett.
Film got no big competition in 2nd week and considering such a good word of moth, film was expected to score big at box office. Film did that despite cricket match and Holi festivities which pushed film in evening to an extent. Film collected very good 1.91 cr nett on 2nd Friday. Film again jumped on 2nd Saturday and collected 2.35 cr nett which was good jump but not great. Film again jumped on Sunday and collected 2.47 cr nett. Film added 79 lakhs nett on Monday which was around 50% drop only from 2nd Friday.
Now film has collected 18.15 cr nett in 11 days and it seems that it will surpass week one total in 2nd week. If film continues good run for two more weeks can take it close to 32-35 cr nett lifetime. Sleeper hit!
