PIKU Had Jump On 2nd Saturday
Bollywood films have disappointed and no film managed to cross 100 cr nett. This year films like ''Dum Laga Ke Haisha'', ''NH 10'', ''Badlapur'' had overperformed purely due to exceptional reviews and positive word of mouth. Now one more film is doing that in an extraordinary way.
''Piku'' is produced by Sony MSM and distributed by Yash Raj Films. Film released in 1600 - 1800 screens and it had opened to glowing reviews and decent occupancy. Film was solid in metros especially in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and collected 5.32 cr nett on Friday. Film had very good weekend of 25 cr nett plus despite low opening day of 5 cr nett and then it had super week one of 41 cr nett plus.
Film had tough competition in 2nd week due to wide release of ''Bombay Velvet''. Film got some reduction in shows but there are fair chances that after dismal day one of ''Bombay Velvet'', ''Piku'' will get some shows back by Sunday. Film collected 3.10 cr nett on 2nd Friday. Film jumped again by 65% on 2nd Saturday and collected 5.10 cr nett. Film will jump again today and will collected 15 cr nett in 2nd weekend.
Film has total of 49.62 cr nett in nine days and it means minimum 60 cr nett lifetime is on the card. Going by the response, film is here to stay and can go as big as 65-70 cr nett lifetime.
Film was highest opener in overseas and collected 2.20 million $ (14.60 cr) over weekend. Film is rather heavy on budget side which means minimum 55 cr nett lifetime required to recover costs including ancillary rights and it seems that it will achieve that easily .
