WAZIR Had Decent Weekend Despite Disappointing Sunday'Wazir' is 1st prominent release of new year 2016. Film had interesting cast as it pitches Farhan Akhtar opposite Amitabh Bachchan. But poor track record of director Beejoy Nambiar at box office and unexciting promos made it a bad bet at box office.
Film released without much fanfare and there was not much expectations from this. Film opened to poor occupancy of 15% and though it grew throughout the opening day but not in a big way. Short running time of 92 minutes ensured very good release size and shows.
Film managed decent day one and collected 5.57 cr nett on day one.
Film collected only in premium multiplexes in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and these properties tend to drop considerably on weekdays. But then film managed to grow on Saturday which was surprise as it had growth of 33% with collection coming close to 7.16 cr nett. But then film failed to show much needed growth on Sunday with flat collection of 8.24 cr nett.
And as expected, film fell badly on Monday and managed just 2.55 cr nett followed by 2.28 cr nett on Tuesday. Film has total of 25.84 cr nett in 5 days and film is heading for 29 cr nett week one and it will struggle to cross 40 cr nett lifetime despite two open weeks.
Film also collected average number of 1.57 million $ (10.48 cr) in overseas in three days which is less than overseas weekend total of last solo Farhan Akhtar starrer 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects'.
