DRISHYAM Is Steady On Weekdays
Last few weeks saw some humongous business at box office thanks to ''Bahubali'' and ''Bajrangi Bhaijaan''. This week will see release of Ajay Devgn starrer ''Drishyam'' which is remake of blockbuster film from down south of same name.
Film was released on Thursday with paid previews all over especially in metros. Film was dependent on word of mouth and positive reviews but releasing on Thursday was a tricky move as such films generally grow on Friday evening only. That is why film collected poor 55 lakhs nett on Thursday in paid previews.
Film got releases in 2365 screens which means film is overexposed as such film should had been released maximum in 1500 screens. Now with such a release, film has taken a really poor opening around 20% and there is huge scope of growth in next two days with so much empty capacity.
Film collected close to 8.50 cr nett on day one which was not bad. Film recovered well in evening shows and on day two it jumped across the board due to terrific word of mouth. Film collected 9.40 cr nett on day two taking two day total to 17.45 cr nett.
Film collected 12.13 cr nett on Sunday and weekend was around 30.03 cr nett. Film collected 4.05 cr nett on Monday which is drop of 50% from Friday. Film added 4.50 cr nett on Tuesday and 4.20 cr nett on Wednesday. Film has total of 42.78 cr nett in six days. Steady weekdays were must for the film in order to reach at least 50 cr nett in week one but now it will reach 47 cr nett. Film collected average 8 cr in overseas over weekend.
