Hansika Motwani just fell short of creating history.Yes she would have become only the third actress in the history of Tamil cinema to have an exclusive temple dedicated to her. But the young diva one of the most wanted actresses in Tamil said a firm no to her fans who wanted a temple dedicated on the outskirts of Chennai.


Apparently the actress was taken aback when she heard through the media that plans were afoot to build a temple in her tribute. Hansika quickly summoned her fans and advised them against going ahead with the over-ambitious plan. Even Hansikas mother was against the idea of a temple as the family thought it would cause them huge embarrassment.


Multi lingual actress Khushboo entered the annals of Tamil cinema history when her die hard fans consecrated a temple (with a sculpture of the actress) near Tiruchirapalli in Tamilnadu. Since then no other actress had the privilege of having a temple in her name.The second actress for whom a temple was planned was the hot Namitha.Though plans were announced in 2008 to build a temple for her the project progressed at snails pace though the actress was keen on seeing herself quickly occupying the sanctum sanctorum of the temple as the goddess.Eventually when the temple was complete Namitha had lost her market in Kollywood. But that did not prevent the actress from making tall claims about the proposed temple.


Hansika who made her debut in South through the Telugu movie Desamuduru in 2007 entered Tamil films in 2011 through the hit movie Mappillai.The movie fetched her multiple awards propelling her to instant stardom.Her next films Velayudham Oru Kal and Oru Kannadi were also blockbusters.While Kushboo and Namitha slogged for an identity the fact that Hansika became a goddess for Kollywood fans through a handful of films caused a lot of heartburn among her contemporaries.


Nevertheless Hansika did not fall into the trap. She is just 21 and took a sensible decision by summoning her fans and advising them against constructing a temple. She still has a long way to go.Her decision has been appreciated by the Tamil cinema industry one of her managers said.


The actress is currently shooting Singham 2 opposite Suriya.
