PEEPLI LIVE Co-Director Farooqui Convicted Of Raping A US Woman

A session court has convicted Mahmood Farooqui, the co-director of the film ‘Peepli Live’(2010), of raping an American woman, who was on her research tour to India. The 35-year-old is a student at Columbia University and was completing her thesis in India. The final hearing will take place tomorrow and his prison sentence will be announced.

The incident happened on March 28th 2015 when Farooqui invited the lady for a dinner at his house and then took her to another room where he forced himself on her. He was on bail before he was convicted but now he is under police custody.
