Thursday, 16th January 07:00 PM IST Recently, Abhay Deol took the singers side and spoke up against the dominating rules of recording labels that refuse to give singers their share of royalty. On Tuesday night, actor Abhay Deol posted a statement on his facebook profile stating that how he has taken up the issue with " the giant record label of the music industry" for not releasing the music of his forthcoming film 'One By Two' yet. The record label in question is T-Series and the actor is also producer of the film. Abhay also stated that how the record label "expect musicians to sign a contract with a clause that is against the law," and force producers like him to insist singers to sign the contract when they agree to do playback for the film. Deol also showcased his feelings towards the issue by turning up at an award show with a black eye, which was his way of saying symbolically that the film’s marketing has taken a hit. As a reply to the turn of events, T-Series has turned up with its statement - "We fail to understand why we are being brought into this mess between the right holder (Viacom 18) and the producer (Abhay Deol)." The statement further read - "We are disappointed that baseless allegations are being made against us in an arbitrary manner completely disregarding our legitimate and lawful concerns as a music label. We are well within our rights to call upon producers to provide us with appropriate agreements with composers, lyricists and singers as we cannot acquire any rights from a person who has none to begin with." | |||
