Kajol Considered To Be Part Time Board Member For Prasar Bharati

Saturday, 20th June 2015, 3:30 PM IST Bollywood actress Kajol has been considered to be a part time board member for the public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati. Other names considered to be members are Anoop Jalota, Ashok Tandon, who was the media advisor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and journalist Minhaz Merchant. According to the grapevine, the Prasar Bharati Act states that the board should have six part-time members and right now they only have two members. According to sources, the vacancies have been open since nearly a year. The Act also states that the public should very well know the members. Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs has given security clearance to all the seven names recommended by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The names considered to be members will be sent to a committee, which will include the I&B secretary and the chairman of the press council of India. Vice-President Hamid Ansari will head the committee.
