The actor was apparently excited when director Kabir Khan narrated the story to him. Kabir replaced Sanjay Puransingh Chauhan as the director of the film, which was initially being produced by Vishnuvardhan and now has Phantom Films on-board as well. The film traces the journey of how Team India, led by Kapil Dev, managed to win the world cup despite being underdogs. According to a source, Ranveer loved the script and the character of Kapil. However, the official announcement is still awaited from the makers. “It’s too early to confirm anything regarding Ranveer Singh essaying the role of Kapil Dev. An announcement will be made by the production house as and when everything is finalised,” says Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson.
