Verdict:
Watch it for heart warming yet funny performance of Kangana Ranaut
Detailed Analysis:
Kangana Ranaut won accolades for her performances in 'Gnagster' and 'Fashion'. But she followed with some real horrible film choices i.e. 'Rascal', 'Rajjo' and 'Miley Na Miley Hum'. Now she is back with a film which promises a lot.
Film starts with usual Rajouri Garden West Delhi middle class setting where a punjabi family is gearing up for its daughter Rani Mehara's (Kangana Ranaut) wedding. But groom Vijay Dhingra (Rajkumar Rao) opts out of marriage just two days before the crucial day. Heartbroken Rani takes a while and then decides to go for her honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam all alone as planned earlier. How this journey changes this shy and naive girl forms the rest of the story. Performance wise Kangana Ranaut gives one hell of a performance. Everyone will fall in love with this girl and deadly combo of innocence, de-glam look and straightforwardness make it a memorable role. You laugh and laugh followed by few wry smiles. Don't be surprised if she wins few awards next year for this portrayal. Rajkumar Rao and Lisa Haydon do justice to their respective roles. Jeffrey Ho as Taka is funny, Bokyo Mish as Olik is expressive and Canadea Lopez Marco as Marcaelo leaves an impact. Music by Anit Trivedi adds a lot to the mood of the film. Though music is rather routine from his standard but it lifts the film few notches up. Cinematography is decent but editing is poor. Film overstayed its welcome by minimum 10-15 minutes. Screenplay by Vikas, Chaitalliya and Parveez looks repetitive but dialogues are to good and save the film big time. But it is director Vikas Bahl who delivers an impressive comical journey of a typical Delhi girl with some really funny and heart wrenching moments. Though film has few shortcomings in this department too- you can't find so naive girl in Rajouri anymore, film takes heavy inspiration from 'English Vinglish', be it cooking contest or foreign friends of Rani's. Film will release tomorrow and will face stiff competition from two other Bollywood releases and one big Hollywood release. Still this Queen should reign the box office to certain extent!
