Music Review: DISHOOM Is All Set For a Musical Fight

Tuesday, 26th July 11:00 AM IST

Music Composers: Pritam

Lyricists: Kumaar, Asish Pandit, Mayur Puri

Rohit Dhawan’s 'Dishoom' is an Action–Adventure film. The plot revolves around India's top batsman goingmissing in the Middle East. Stars  John Abraham & Varun Dhawan play the two cops who go looking for him from either sides of the Arabian Sea team. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Saqib Saleem and Akshaye Khannain supporting roles.

The album starts with ‘Sau Tarah Ke’ sung by Amit Mishra & Jonita Gandhi in a stylish manner to the Hindi & Arabic lyrics penned down by Kumaar & Asish Pandit. It’s grasping and spins you to the fun zone.

Ratings: 3/5

‘Sau Tarah Ke’ the Revisited version is sung by our very own Indian Idol 1 winner Abhijeet Sawant who still sounds as enthusiastic as ever accompanied by Aditi Singh Sharma who keeps up with his pace. The song is a brilliant composition by Pritam & is my personal favourite among the two versions.

Ratings: 3.5/5

The next song added to the album a little later ‘Jaanemaan Aah’ is in poor taste to a different level from the composition as well as the lyrics perspective. The lyrics have been written by Mayur Puri. Sung by the otherwise talented Aman Trikha & Antara Mitra who now add a complete miss to the list of songs sung by them so far. The only way this song could be liked is if it was written & composed by industry’s 'Nunna Sa,Chota Sa Baccha…Mr. Shakti Kapoor'…Jaanemaan Aah!

Ratings: 1.5/5

The next song in the album is ‘Toh Dishoom’ a fabulous rap composition by Pritam sung outstandingly by Raftaar Singh & Shahid Mallya. Complimenting each other’s voices in the best possible way, to the witty lyrics penned down by Mayur Puri. This one’s a sure shot connect with the audiences and works amazingly for the star duo as well.

Ratings: 3/5

The final track ‘Ishqa’ has an authentic Arabic feel to it. Sung extremely well by Antara Mitra & Abhijeet Sawant in an unusual voice sounding very different from the way he usually does. This time around sounding very versatile in his singing and seeming determined to make a comeback. Three cheers for that!

Ratings: 3/5

‘Dishoom’ is an album with compositions that are filled with Fun & Frolic yet maintaining the requirement of the plot. The Music is peppy & the surprise element of this album is Abhijeet Sawant. A different voice for a change is always welcomed.

Ratings: 3/5
