New Releases Take A Poor Start At Box Office
''2 States'' and ''Heropanti'' made big splash at box office and other Hollywood releases disappointed in Indian market to an extent. This week two small Bollywood releases and couple of regional and Hollywood releases will try their luck at box office.
''Citylights'' was expected to open better but film opened to horrific numbers of 8%. But film had good reviews and rather good word of mouth so it will jump from evening onwards. But after such a poor start, it needs remarkable turn around. As per early trends, even 1.25 cr nett will be a respectable number.
''Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi'' was never expected to open and that is what happened. Film opened to almost 3-5% opening and few cancelled shows. Film has almost impossible task at box office and even 50 lakhs on day one will be a relief as per early trends.
Punjabi film ''Mudeyon Toh Bach Ke Rahin'' has opened very well and will set to dominate north market. Hollywood release ''Blended'' from Warner Bros. should touch 20-25 lakhs on day one as film is carrying good report for its niche target audience.
But yes, ''Heropanti'' should still come up with highest numbers in 2nd week and even Hollywood release ''X Men'' should score decent numbers in 2nd week.
