BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN Crosses Record 185 Cr Nett Domestic In Week One, 2nd Highest Ever
2015 is now ready with first big release, Salman Khan starrer ''Bajrangi Bhaijaan''. As usual film was expected to do huge business and film has opened to extraordinary numbers and going by the initials, it seems that it will break few records in coming days.
Film released in 800 screens in overseas and 4500 screens in India. Film lost few shows to ''Bahubali'' in multiplexes especially in south. But overall film was not affected by this as this is big ticket occasion release and audience flocked to cinemas no matter what.
As we mentioned in our prediction article, film opened to full houses and historic numbers today morning. Advance bookings were humongous and at places it was better than ''Kick'' and ''Ek Tha Tiger''. Film was close to 75% in smaller towns and metros were also close to 60%. This went up as the day progressed and evening to night shows were packed to capacity.
Film collected 27.25 cr nett on day one which means it is highest number for pre Eid day, better than 26.40 cr nett of ''Kick''. ''Bahubali'' factor in south and pre Eid might dent it by 1.5 - 2 cr nett on day one. Film has got rather better reviews than other Salman starrers so it should trend good in coming days. Yesterday film scored huge numbers and collected 36.50 cr nett.
Today again film took a solid start and it ran housefull throughout the day. As per early trends, it should cross 38.75 cr nett today if not more which means 102.60 cr nett plus in three days. It is far more than earlier highest weekend for Salman with 83 cr nett plus of ''Kick''. It is 3rd highest weekend ever in India behind ''Happy New Year'' and ''Dhoom 3''.
Film was expected to hold well on Monday due to extended festivities but film surprised all. Film had almost equal attendance on Monday as on Friday and despite low ticket rates, film managed historic 27.05 cr nett which is hardly 2% less than Friday. This is highest non holiday Monday ever by some distance beating Monday numbers of ''PK''. Film collected huge 21.40 cr nett on Tuesday which is like 17% drop from Monday. Film added 18.02 cr nett on Wednesday and 15.55 cr nett on Thursday.
Film has total of 184.62 cr nett in week one and now it seems that film is heading for highest week one ever. Film has crossed week one collection of ''Kick'' (164 cr nett) in six days straight. It collected 375 cr gross worldwide and 84 cr (13 million $) approx in overseas. This is 2nd highest week one ever, 2nd only to 188.98 cr nett of ''Dhoom 3''. BLOCKBUSTER!
