DILWALE Remains Flat On Day TwoThe biggest weekend arrived and much awaited clash took place at box office. 'Dilwale' and 'Bajirao Mastani' have created buzz before release. Both films have some USPs and both have very different type of treatment.
'Dilwale' has opened in approximate 3200 screens which is almost 35% less than 'PK' or PRDP. On top of that, yesterday was working day and there was no holiday edge. Still film opened to phenomenal response all over with 70% occupancy. Film was solid in East, North and South as expected.
Film collected 21 cr nett on day one which is equal to 30 cr plus if we take out clash factor. 'Dhoom 3' had highest non holiday opening of 34 cr nett to see things in right perspective. Film lost 75 lakhs -1 cr business yesterday due to protest and external factors. Saturday was a crucial day for the film as it needed similar total as Friday but it went down a bit.
Film struggled in Mumbai, CP and CI due to competition and cancellation of shows due to protests. Film collected 20.09 cr nett on Saturday. Today film needs to touch 23-24 cr nett minimum in order to have any chance on weekdays. Film has two day total of 41.09 cr nett and if it can hold to even 10% growth level on Sunday then it can be in a position to take advantage of coming holidays.
Film collected very good numbers overseas with UAE collecting 0.9 million dollar on day one which is far better than any release in 2015. Even UK, Australia and New Zealand were good despite competition from 'Star Wars'. 1st day total in overseas was close to 22.61 cr, outstanding!
