AZHAR Drops By Big 90% In 2nd WeekMay month has some interesting releases and after success of ''Baaghi'' and ''The Jungle Book'' now all eyes on ''Azhar'', the big cricket biopic. Film has created some waves due to controversial subject though last few films of Emraan Hashmi were big flops at box office. And this one also remained flat over weekend without nay distinct growth followed by below par Monday.
Film released in 2500 screens and opened to decent numbers of 25% occupancy. Film was strong in Gujarat, Mumbai and south. Film was very dull in metro and urban areas. Film had got good opening in comparison to other films this year but film had to grow from evening onwards but presence of not so urban cast and marketing limited that growth.
Film collected 6.30 cr nett on day one which was strictly average number considering budget, hype and release size. Film needed big improvement over weekend in order to break even for distributors but film collected 7 cr nett with slim growth on Saturday. Film added 7.50 cr nett on Sunday which was no big growth again. After 20.80 cr weekend, film dropped by 55% on Monday with 2.95 cr nett followed by 2.45 cr nett on Tuesday, 2 cr nett on Wednesday and 1.50 cr nett on Thursday.
Film has 1st week total of 29.70 cr nett which was poor. Film added 1.80 cr nett in 2nd weekend. Film added 80 lakhs nett from Monday to Wednesday. Film will collect 2.85 cr nett in 2nd week which is huge drop of 90% form 1st week.
Film has 13-days total of 32.30 cr nett. This is not a good total at all and now film is heading for 34 cr nett lifetime. Disappointing as it will collect even less than another Emraan Hashmi disaster ''Hamari Adhuri Kahani''!
