Tuesday, 2nd June 2015, 3:19 PM IST Sunny Leone starrer ‘Mastizaade’ was slated to hit the screens on 1st May, but it has not been certified yet. Censor Board has refused to certify this sex comedy. So, the makers of the film have approached the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal. An insider said, "The makers were anticipating the Board to recommend several cuts, but were crestfallen when it outright refused to clear the film. They were served a two week backdated rejection letter on May 28 and have found the Board's reasons too flimsy to digest." The source added that when the film was screened to RC (Revision Committee), a female board member had recommended to clear the film with an 'A' certificate with some cuts. However, her words were apparently not taken into consideration. Another source said, "Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani told the Information and Broadcasting Ministry that RC member Nandini Sardesai was leading the charge in getting the film banned. However, when Nandy (Pritish Nandy, producer of the film) learnt about that, he refused to believe the lies. He knew that Sardesai was not present during any of the two certification screenings of the film." Nandy said, "I cannot comment right now as the matter is pending before the Tribunal."
