Detailed Analysis:
RGV made some exceptional cinema in 90's before he really lost his touch with some really mediocre cinema. He is back with next instalment of franchise 'Sarkar'. Film with the eponymous character of Subhash Nagre aka Sarkar, a thinly disguised fictionalized version of Bal Thakeray, which Amitabh Bachchan played first in 2005.
Sarkar, in his flowing black robes, dramatically contrasting white beard, rudraksh beads around the neck, is both respected and feared by his constituency and his enemies: he is not an elected representative, but wields as much if not more power than those who sit in the Mantralaya. In the third part of the series, the number of foes has risen, and at each step, a new challenger shows up. This includes a thundering Manoj Bajpayee, a crafty Rohini Hattangadi, a madly vamping Jackie Shroff who is to be seen hanging out with a bikini-clad buxom babe for the most part, and other sundries. Film has some really impressive performances but technical quality of RGV style really spoils the experience. Amitabh Bachchan in title role is simply marvellous as he looks menacing at the same time blends understating style. Amit Sadh is perfect as grandson of Sarkar and delivers an honest act. Jackie Shroff and Manoj Bajpayee are good too. Yami Gautam looks misfit and tries too hard to look the part. The film is made solid screenplay but dialogues are repetitive and lacks punch. Background score is noisy and irritating. Camerawork is also unpleasant. Music is almost zilch and songs are more like formality. Art direction is decent and so are costumes. Editing looks good. Lighting is one department which really let down the film. Ramgopal Varma again delivers a film which does not lack in substance but his style of direction and technical aspects really kills the experience. Film released today and will really find hard to score at box office as it will clash with blockbuster 'Baahubali' which is strong in 3rd week too and 'Meri Pyari Bindu' in addition to Hollywood release 'Alien'. Watch it for only performances!
