Sidharth Malhotra & Parineeti Chopra starrer ‘Jabariya Jodi’ shifted to a new date

By Nikhil Bisoi - June 03, 2019 Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are all set to work again in ‘Jabariya Jodi’, after sharing screen space in Hasee Toh Phasee (2014). This Prashant Singh directorial, which was slated to release on May 17, will now release on August 2. This is the second time the film has postponed its release date. The film starring Sidharth and Parineeti suffered from a date change earlier as well. The makers - Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Ruchikaa Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures - had earlier announced that the film would release on July 12. Recently, the makers of Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 announced the film’s release date as July 12 and the two films were to clash at the box office. ‘Super 30’ was earlier set to clash with Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Mental Hai Kya’, which is also produced by Ekta Kapoor, on July 26. To avoid this clash Hrithik postponed ‘Super 30’ and now to avoid the clash again the makers of Jabariya Jodi postponed their release date. It’s better when film’s do not eat into each other’s business, but with many film’s release in a single year clashes are inevitable. Coming back to ‘Jabariya Jodi’, the film is helmed by debutante director Prashant Singh. The romantic comedy is reportedly based on the practice of abduction of grooms prevalent in the Indian state of Bihar. The film, co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R. Singh, would also see Aparshakti Khurana and Javed Jaffrey in pivotal roles and is all set to release on 2nd August.
