While we had a few actions films in the first quarter of 2016, ‘Baaghi’ is said to be 'Bollywood's First Young Action Film of 2016'. The movie which stars Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff releases on 29th April.
An insider stated, "Producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sabbir Khan have shown things as they are right from the promo stage itself. ‘Baaghi’ isn't meant to be a soppy, weepy, melodramatic romantic affair. It has music but not the kind that you associate with the likes of ‘Aashiqui’. Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor have a young audience to cater to and are popular in this segment. However, they are doing a lot more than just running around the trees. They are happy kicking butt, and they are doing so in style. It is this very core of ‘Baaghi’ that makes it stand out amongst the rest of young entertainers that are in the offering.”
The movie is being pitched as 'Bollywood's First Young Action Film of 2016'.
A senior person from the industry said, "It makes sense to pitch it that way as that establishes a class of its own. Somehow this genre of films, where youngsters are seen in the middle of some cool body-to-body action, has gone entirely missing. It is tough to remember which was the last film where something like that was seen. When you have a hero and a heroine on the field battling it out with the villain, and there is good music, humor and masala thrown in as well (and by 'masala' I don't mean the South style 'masala' that had a rather small shelf life in Bollywood), the impact is something altogether different."
