BEGUM JAAN Now Has To Change Muslim Reference To Holi
| |||
Thursday, 6th April 2017, 1:47 PM IST ‘Begum Jaan’ had many cuts earlier, and now there is another change in the movie, since Muslim reference is made along with Holi, which is considered a Hindu festival. In Srijit Mukherjee’s ‘Begum Jaan’ which opens on April 14 the line, “Allah kehke Bismillah. Naam Nabi Ka Holi” has been asked to be replaced by “Tan se khele ang rang daala Brij ki har bala,” the rationale for the switch over being religious sentiments. For more politics of pacification a reference to a dargaah (religious place) has been changed by the CBFC to a saraai (inn) in ‘Begum Jaan’. ‘Begum Jaan’ is slated to release next week.
