Friday, 02nd May 2014, 03:10 PM IST Latest buzz is that a film is being made on Priyanka Chopra’s first few years in the Hindi film industry. Her ex-lover Aseem Merchant is producing the biopic under his newly launched production house, Limelight Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd.
Interestingly, Aseem describes the film as a biopic of Priyanka’s ex-manager Prakash Jaju. Jaju and Priyanka had an ugly fallout in 2004 which led to his arrest. According to Jaju, the actress owed him a huge amount of money and refused to clear his dues. Then he allegedly started interfering in the actress’ personal life. This led to her father(late) Dr Ashok Chopra filing an FIR against him, stating that he was not only making false allegations against his daughter but also threatening her family members. Jaju went into hiding and was finally arrested from Madhya Pradesh in 2008.
Aseem and Priyanka were in a relationship when she won the Miss World crown in 2000. Question him if someone would play him in the film, he says, “The film will depict everybody who interacted with Jaju while he was working with Priyanka. My association with Priyanka is long over. I have started a company to make films. My second film may upset someone else,” he said adding, “Priyanka is a lovely person and I am proud of her.”
Interestingly, Jaju kept in touch with Aseem for over a decade and seems to be fine the film. He said, “I’m fine with Aseem’s film. It chronicles Priyanka’s life from the day she entered the film industry till I was put in jail. There will be actors who portray Hema Malini, Sridevi and Jackie Shroff too since I handled their work, before turning into a fund manager. It was only because Priyanka’s father insisted that I take up her work that I returned to Bollywood.” “We are in the process of finalising a competent director,” concluded Aseem. |
