Monday, 17th Nov 2014, 3:05 PM IST Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Bombay Velvet’ was slated to hit the screens late 2014. However, it was postponed to next year. And now, finally the release date of the film has been fixed. The movie will be hitting the screens on 15th May 2015. Anurag Kashyap, the director of the film, said, "The film needed time, given all the work that was pending. Now that we have locked the release date, everyone associated with it is thrilled. An exciting marketing plan is being crafted to promote it in a way no film has been presented before." Talking about why the film was postponed, the film's producer Vijay Singh said that the delay was required as the film needed extensive visual effects. "It will definitely be the biggest release, in terms of prints, of the first half of 2015," he added. Talking about releasing the film during vacation and IPL cricket season, Vijay said, "Summer holidays are a good time to release a film and people would have had enough of cricket by then. It's a Ranbir Kapoor film, a beautiful love story set against the rise of our city. It's authentic cinema with amazing performances and we are all excited about the May 15 opening." The movie also stars Karan Johar in a negative role.
