Detailed Analysis:
Vishesh Films brings one formulatic film after another with combination of sex, music and thrill. They try to make cheap films (in terms of cost and treatment both) and mostly finish with some profit in pocket.
Film is not a remake of 'Mahal' which was the initial rumor because it is not that good either. Film is a story of three badly written characters which exist in the world of Bhatts and on top of that performed by good young actors in worst way possible. Kabir (Ali Fazal) is an alcoholic writer who is literally kicked where-it-hurts-the-most by an ex-girlfriend's husband into taking a new course for his life and to write another book. In search of a new story, Kabir travels to a scenic place near Srinagar (actually shot in South Africa) and lodges in a desolate hotel run by Meera (Sapna Pabbi). Kabir falls for idiotic girl Meera, who is more silly than mysterious. Though strange things happen in the hotel, like falling keys, a weird photograph vanishes, and all cliche horror elements. The sexual tension between Meera and Kabir reaches most obvious conclusion with a over stretched love making act during one good song. The mystery of Meera's husband Jaidev (Gurmeet Chaudhary) is unraveled with silliest twist in history of cinema. Performance wise Gurmeet Chaudhary shows potential but he is not there in first half and when he comes there is not enough to do for him in effective way. Sapna Pabbi had terrible close ups and worse dialogue delivery. Ali Fazal is dependable actor but even he manages to overact throughout. Rest of supporting cast is in typical Bhatt zone with strange expressions and ham acts. Film has couple of good songs but still all look repetitive. Editing is crisp and cinematography is average. Background score is decent. Story was good but poor dialogues and screenplay spoil the game especially in 2nd half, Vikram Bhatt should take a bow for writing such a screenplay. Art department and costume department are good.
Director Karan Darra failed miserably and despite having a good subject, hit songs and good actors, he manages to deliver cliche film. To be fair, film has moments but it never fulfills the promises. Film released today and will get 1400 screens which will enough for such film. Film has chances at box office as there is no major competition. But still it needs an exceptional jumps and word of mouth over weekend in order to come out as hit.
Go for this one if skin show with couple of good songs is your idea of entertainment!
