AIRLIFT Crosses 120 cr Nett On 3^rd Sunday

''Airlift'' is big release of new year 2016. Film had interesting patriotic theme and has Akshay Kumar in lead. But film was facing competition at box office from successful sex comedy franchise ''Kya Kool Hain Hum 3''. Film conquered competition and broke January jinx at box office. 

Film released today across 2600 screens in India and 68 screens in Middle East. On Friday film opened to 35% opening in India and multiplexes/urban centers are doing better on expected lines. What is heartening is that film has opened to better numbers than ''Baby'' which released last year in same week. Film collected 12.35 cr nett on day one.

Film has got good to very good reviews and that helped film from Friday evening onwards. Film started Saturday on good note and growth was across the board. Film collected 14.60 cr nett on Saturday with growth of 35%. Film was in top form on Sunday as it managed to grow by 45% in places like Nagpur, Surat and Mysore. Film collected 17.35 cr nett on Sunday. Film stamped authority with solid Monday and collected 10.40 cr nett which was almost equal to Friday number. 

Film jumped big on Tuesday because of national holiday and collected 17.80 cr nett which was equal to its Sunday number. Film dropped on Wednesday and collected 6 cr nett as such films tend to drop on weekdays after such huge holiday biz followed by 5 cr nett on Thursday. Film collected 83.50 cr nett in week one and  crossed highest ever week one number of Akshay Kumar starrer ''''Rowdy Rathore'''' which was 79.8 cr nett. 

Film dropped on 2nd Friday and collected 4.50 cr nett but still it’s a good number considering new releases which were lower than its 2nd Friday total. Film jumped on 2nd Saturday by 60% and collected 6.50 cr nett which was outstanding. Film again jumped on second Sunday and collected 8.26 cr nett. Film has collected 19.26 cr nett in 2nd weekend and has crossed 100 cr nett. 

Film dropped on 2nd Monday and collected 2.53 cr nett but still it will cross 26 cr nett in 2nd week which is a good result. Film added 2.61 cr nett on Tuesday,2.40 cr nett on Wednesday and 1.99 cr nett on Thursday. Film added 28.79 cr nett in 2nd week which was good number considering new releases. Film dropped further on 3rd Friday and collected 2.03 cr nett but again jumped big on 3rd Saturday with 3.04 cr nett. And on 3^rd Sunday, ‘Airlift’ earned 3.34 cr, thereby taking its 3rd weekend total to 8.87 cr. Very good!

Film has 17 day total of 120.70 cr nett. Film should cross 123 cr nett lifetime. Super Hit ! Like December clash, it seems one more time 'content and reviews win over old school entertainment'. Film collected 36.93 cr after 17 days in overseas.
