Music Review Ki & Ka Is Complete Music Album For Urban Love Story
| |
Music Composers: Illaiyaraaja, Mithoon, Meet Bros.
Lyricists: Kumaar, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Sayeed Quadri.
R. Balki’s much awaited Ki & Ka is a Comedy- Drama film starring Kareena Kapoor Khan & Arjun Kapoor. The film has an unusual plot of a young, married couple whose relationship challenges the gender roles placed upon women and men in the Indian society. Let’s find out if the music has anything unusual about it as well.
‘High Heels Te Nachche’ the albums first song is an awesome dance track composed by Meet Bros, crooned by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Jaz Dhami & Aditi Singh Sharma. The song was a rage back in 2012 and has been superbly reworked on for Ki & Ka. The Meet Brothers keep giving us some magnificent tracks throughout the year compiling a super party album for us to party to by the end of each year. Ratings: 4/5
The second song in the album is a classical romantic one ‘Ji Huzoori’ which is a brilliant composition by Mithoon and a duet by himself in his charismatic voice portraying depth along with Deepali Kishore who sounds sweet and sensational, to the well thought lyrics penned down by Mithoon’s favorite lyricist Sayeed Quadri which adds the magic to the entire composition making it exceptional. Ratings: 3.5/5
The next song ‘Most Wanted Munda’ is another composition by Meet Brother Anjaan sung by the Meet Brothers Anjaan & Earl Edger accompanied by Palak Muchhal who sounds wasted & hopelessly rapped by Arjun Kapoor in his treated voice to the lyrics of Kumaar. The song is a very below average track with some forced rapping. You’ll have to bear with this one completely. Ratings: 2/5 ‘Foolishq’ is composed to remind you of the song Cheeni Kum Hai…. and is a typical R Balki song composed by the super talented Illaiyaraaja. However the later being a brilliant composition, this one fails in replicating the same effect in Armaan Malik & Shreya Ghosals voices. It seems to miss out on melody questioning its existence indeed it is a Fool..ish one without the Q.
The next song of the album is ‘Pump It Pump’ sung & composed by Meet Brothers & Yash Narvekar This is a techno track of Hinglish lyrics penned down by Kumaar with the word “Bum” used repeatedly to attract your attention unfortunately it still fails to do so another one that will disappoint the music lovers. Ratings: 2/5 Though overall album of ‘Ki & Ka does not make a lasting impression but its a different sort of album which is ideal for urban love story. But such movie with such a strong and distinct plot deserves much much more in terms of music.Still this one can ride popularity charts once film strikes a chord. Ratings: 3/5
