Music Review – A Cabaret Almost Without Music!

Tuesday,7th June 10:00 AM IST

Music Composers: Kaustav Narayan Niyogi, Badshah,Tony Kakkar, Munish Makhija.

Lyricists: Honey Saini, Tony Kakkar, Kaustav Narayan Niyogi.

Kaustav Narayan Niyogi’s 'Cabaret' is based on the dance form with Richha Chadda, Gulshan Devaiah & the controversial S. Shreesant in lead roles. Ready for release on 10th June, 2016. Let’s find out if the album has what it takes to entertain its listeners.

The album starts with ‘Paani Paani’ composed by Badshah lacks almost everything a song needs to make it a hit for a plot that has such an important title Cabaret. The lyrics by Honey Saini are meaningless the composition lacks pace making Sunidhi Chauhan sound boring. Ifyou survive this one you may want to drink some Paani yes Paani!

Ratings: 2/5

‘Phir Teri Bahon Mein’ is a slow song composed & written by Tony Kakkar and sung by Sonu Kakkar. Nothing in this song will want you to listen to it again or remember it.

Ratings: 1.5/5

The third song in the album is ‘Do Anjaane’ composed by the director himself along with Munish Makhija. What really worries me by now is why is the movie named Cabaret where is the music.

Ratings: 1.5/5

The next song of the album is ‘Mohe Aaye Na Jag Se Laaj’ has been re-created by Munish Makhija. Sung by Neeti Mohan. This one as I can understand may be really close to the heart of many music lovers however not everyone understands & respects our sentiments, what more can I say. It’s Disastrous.

Ratings: 1.5/5

‘Aakhri Shaam’ sung by Bhoomi Trivedi is a badly written & composed number by Kaustav doesn’t help the album at all. Wish it was the Aakhri Gaan instead of Aakhri Shaam.

Ratings: 1/5

The last song of the album finally is ‘Bibi Sanam’ sung by the very talented Usha Uthup lacks pep, composition etc. So the only think that Cabaret has from it’s era is Usha Uthup with all due respect.

Ratings: 1/5

The album of ‘Cabaret’ makes me wonder if a concept of Cabaret could be conceived without any music …cause this one’s as good as that!!

Ratings: 1.5/5
