Film released today and will open with decent numbers and it should have good week with big Independence Day holiday and Rakhi. Film will be affected by big clash at box office and this looks like another disaster as per huge budget of the film.

MOHENJODARO Is Epic Bore

Pluses:

authentic art direction, Hrithik Roshan is outstanding, Pooja Hegde looks pretty, Kabir Bedi is decent, superb action

Minuses:

uninteresting plot, cliche background score, inconsistent direction

Critic Rating:

2/5

Business Rating:

1/5

Verdict:

Watch it for Hrithik Roshan

Detailed Analysis:

Ashutosh Gowariker and Hrithik delivered 'Jodha Akbar' and now they are back with lavish period drama. This is first release of Hrithik in last 22 months.

Plot is simple. A farmer from Amri, Sindh named Sarman (Hrithik Roshan) travels upriver to the largest city, Mohenjodaro, where during a street mishap he saves the life of a beautiful woman named Chaani (Pooja Hegde) who as 'The Chosen One' in service to Sindhu Ma, the goddess of the river which is the centre of their culture, is 'the symbol of Mother Sindhu's grace and blessing.' But Sarman soon falls afoul of the politician Maham (Kabir Bedi) and his son Moonja (Arunodaya Singh) who are seizing power and starting to rule Mohenjo Daro as an empire. To win Chaani, Sarman must defeat Maham and rouse the people to save their city.

Film has cliche plot and screenplay gets boring at times especially in 2nd half. Songs are intolerable and proceedings look too cliche.

Performance wise, Hrithik Roshan is outstanding and Pooja Hegde looks pretty but lacks in acting department. Kabir Bedi is decent but Arunodaya Singh hams. Narendra Jha, Manish Chaudhary and Sharad Kelkar are complete misfit.

Film has crisp editing. Background music is loud. Cinematography is decent, production design is authentic and costumes are apt. Music is bore and looks misfit with the period of the film.

Director Ashutosh Gowariker made couple of big duds and this will add to that tally. He fails to create any emotion for the characters or magic around the bygone era.

Film released today and will open with decent numbers and it should have good week with big Independence Day holiday and Rakhi. Film will be affected by big clash at box office and this looks like another disaster as per huge budget of the film.

Go for this only if you love Hrithik!
