''Trapped'' struggles at the box office, despite quality content.
Last weekend we saw three credible Bollywood movies releasing. ‘Trapped’, ‘Machine’ and ‘Aa Gaya Hero’. Out of these three, ‘Trapped’, which won accolades across the globe in several film festivals, is undoubtedly the content-strong one.
‘Trapped’ stars a name who is not equivalent to big bucks at the box office, yet who assures content-driven films – Rajkummar Rao. Pus, it is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the one who has movies like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Lootera’ to his credit. Both these things should appeal to people who like to watch good movies.
The film had a paid preview, which earned the makers Rs. 3 lakh. On its opening Friday, the movie earned 26 lakhs, Saturday 46 lakhs and on Sunday it saw a hike and earned Rs.69 lakhs. Though made on a low budget of less than 10 cr, ‘Trapped’ won’t be able to make profits at the box office.
