YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI Scores Big On Day One
When new star is born at box office there will be few bruised souls of fans of ageing stars who can not accept the change. Trade is surprised so are the makers with such a thunderous response for Ranbir starrer YJHD on day one.
Film took strong opening in almost all the centers and film managed to beat record collection in Delhi and Punjab where Holiday released held record for day one. Film managed to close on Salman starrer "Ek Tha Tiger" in Delhi and surpassed all previous figures of "Bodyguard", "Rowdy Rathore" and "Agneepath".
Film was never expected to strike in smaller centers but film was superb in places like Valsad in Gujarat, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mysore and Nasik. Film was a wide release and that is why final figures will be compiled by noon.
But as per early estimates, film should collect 19.45 cr nett on Day one which is a huge leap for Ranbir and brings him among top league at such a young age. Today will be a crucial day for the film as no drop will be the best result because after such a heavy opening, film tends to drop.
Film collected 4 cr nett in Delhi, 7 cr nett in Mumbai, 1.35 cr nett in East Punjab and 1.30 cr nett in Rajasthan. CI and CP should be close to 1 cr nett each.
This is the biggest opening day in 2013 beating "Race 2" by some distance. And for sure, this will be the biggest weekend of 2013 too. Film also took thunderous start in UAE with 1 cr collection on Thursday.
